Aim for 1 Billion Passengers to Fly on Sustainable Aviation Fuel Flights by 2025

The International Air transport Association (IATA) set out an aim for one billion passengers to fly on flights powered by a mix of jet fuel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by 2025. This aspiration was identified on the tenth anniversary of the first flight to blend sustainable aviation fuel and ordinary jet fuel. On 24 February 2008, a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 flew from London to Amsterdam with sustainable aviation fuel in one of its engines. Novus Aviation Capital has successfully closed the purchase and leaseback of two brand new Airbus A321-200 aircraft, MSN 8061 and MSN 8076, with Vietjet airline of Vietnam. 2017 Marked by Strong Passenger Demand, Record Load Factor

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced global passenger traffic results for 2017 showing that demand (revenue passenger kilometers or RPKs) for the year ended 31 December rose 7.6% compared to 2016. This was well above the 10-year average annual growth rate of 5.5%. While the rate of demand growth slowed to 6.2% in December 2017, compared to December 2016, this largely was owing to less favorable comparisons to the even stronger growth trend seen in the year-ago period.
