The General Authority of Civil Aviation has conducted a survey aimed at restricting the private aircrafts registered outside the country and operating at the country’s airports as a base for operation within the framework of an initiative aimed at legalizing the activity of private business flights and preventing illegal operations or the so-called gray market. In line with developing and delivering the highest standards of safety and security for civil aviation in the United Arab Emirates.
H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi Director General of UAE GCAA said: “The Private business aircrafts activity is one of the vital activities of the civil aviation sector in the country and the sustainability of this sector requires a legislative system that ensures protection against illegal operations that negatively impact aircraft operators.
Thus, and as a result of this survey the GCAA has located the number of private foreign registered aircrafts in the country, and 60 aircrafts have been identified. The Authority is currently in communication with the owners of 22 aircrafts in order to familiarize them with the requirements of commercial operation inside the country and ensure that they do not violate these requirements while the GCAA follows up with the rest of the identified aircrafts and its owners.
It is worth noting that the nature of operations of private business aircrafts makes it difficult to control the business of their operations and therefore the Authority in coordination with the relevant government agencies and representatives of the aviation sector in the State are working to develop appropriate mechanisms aimed at reducing the infringing activities.
